Abstract | LEFE is an interagency action on projects coordinated and managed by INSU.
It is dedicated to support research that aim at meeting the identified priorities: physical, physicochemical and biogeochemical that control the dynamics and the variability of the ocean, the atmosphere and their interfaces, over a wide time and space scale. Improved knowledge in this area is largely based on approaches combining the acquisition and processing of relevant observations in present and past climates, with development and improvement of numerical models involving the environments concerned and their interfaces . This should lead to better modeling all or part of the Earth system, to better understand past trends, to track and forecast future developments, as well as in an operational context to make reliable climate projections.
Thus, LEFE is positioned on five actions:
- Atmospheric chemistry (CHAT)
- Biogeochemical cycles, environment and resources (CYBER)
- Mission Mercator Coriolis Group (GMMC)
- Multiple interactions in the atmosphere, ice and the ocean (IMAGO) (resulting from the merger of LEFE/IDAO and LEFE/EVE)
- Mathematical and numerical (MANU) |
