Abstract | Campaign My Sea (Mana Jura) has been founded in 2012 and since then has been active in public awareness raising and research with regards to marine litter issues in Latvia. It combines research, environmental education and practical environmental work. Campaign has developed beach marine litter monitoring network that currently consists of 43 sites. Monitoring and research programme is implemented as citizen science initiative in collaboration with volunteer participation and awareness raising initiatives on the subject. The central axis of campaign is annual Green Expedition that covers all 500 kilometers of Latvian coastline. The campaign has gained high visibility in social media and the press. Campaign is implemented by NGO Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) Latvia, one of the leading organisations for environmental education and independent environmental certification in the field of tourism. |
