The Oceanographic Section is a part of the Observation Division of DMI. The activities of the section include oceanographic measurements in danish, faroe and greenlandic waters. Tide gauges are operated in 16 danish harbours, 1 in Faroe Islands and 1 in Greenland. Another one will be operating in Aug/Sep 1992 on the Northeast coast of Greenland. Tide gauges in Denmark communicate data in real time to the data bank and the water service in DMI. In Greenland, one tide gauge with data storage on the site. Data are available with a delay of about one month. From medium 1993 data will be in real time. Tide gauge's data from the station on the Northeast coast starting in Aug/Sep 1992 will be available with a delay of about one year.
The tide gauge in Faroe Islands is operated with data storage on the site. Data are available with a delay of about one month. From mid-1993 data will be available in real time.
Hydrographic stations (temperature/salinity) operate in 17 danish harbours. Data are available with a delay of about one and a half months. The section is involved in the Greenland Sea Project and Nordic WOCE working groups. |
