- The primary mission of the College of Marine Science is to conduct basic and applied research in ocean science. We not only engage the traditional fields of biology, chemistry, geology, and physics to study the marine realm, but view interactions with the adjoining land mass and the overlying atmosphere as critical components in modern and past oceans. Finally, our faculty, research staff, and graduate students are fully committed to interdisciplinary science and are striving to define new collaborative intellectual relationships that lead to new discoveries.
