The LIENSs laboratory is a Joint Research Unit (CNRS / University of La Rochelle) which studies a complex system: the coastline, using an interdisciplinary approach. We study the functioning of this system, its evolution in a context of global change and increasing urbanization of the coasts, its use and its sustainable exploitation. To do this, the unit integrates expertise in multiple scientific fields: environmental sciences (biology, ecology, geophysics), human sciences (geography, history), chemistry and biotechnology. The unit is made up of 6 research teams: Geographic Approach: Islands, Littorals, Environment Responses of Marine Animals to Environmental Variability BIOdiversity and Functioning of Coastal Ecosystems Littoral Dynamics Physical Littoral Dynamics Biotechnologies and Chemistry of Bioresources for Health Old and New Shoreline Spaces, Societies, Territories.
