- The Center “Dynamics of the Nearshore Zone” (CDNZ) was established by Russian Foundation for Basic Researches together with Russian Academy of Sciences and Russian Ministry of High education. They are as follows: Development and improvement of material and technical basis of investigation of the coastal zone dynamics; Development and unification of nearshore and marine research methods; Creation of data basis and information systems on problems of nearshore zone dynamics, effective exploitation and protection of nearshore zone; Scientific support to the state organizations in solving environmental problems, and effective exploitation of the nearshore marine environment and accident prevention; Independent expert examination and scientific consulting on the economic activity in the coastal zone of different countries; Dissemination of the results and methods of the marine nearshore zone research, assistance in scientific training including support of scientific publications, methodic recommendations, training literature, organizing the conferences, seminars, workshops, testing of new equipment and instrumentation, hands-on training on new equipment and so on. To carry out 20 m depth diving operations, there are some highly qualified specialists as well as the modern scientific and diving equipment. To make the geotechnical seabed survey inspection to check the technical state of underwater pipelines and other underwater constructions in deeper water, the CDNZ is able to use remote operated vehicles of different class, high-precision hydro-acoustic systems (multi-beam, side scan sonar) and other measuring instruments. Since 2006, CDNZ has got a Certificate of the Marine Register of Russia recognizing the CDNZ “as an enterprise carrying out inspection of the underwater pipelines and other underwater constructions with ROV’s.”
