- GRID-Arendal is a centre collaborating with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). Established in 1989 by the Government of Norway as a Norwegian Foundation, its mission is to communicate environmental information to policy-makers and facilitate environmental decision-making for change. It is based in Arendal, Norway and have offices in Ottawa, Canada and Stockholm, Sweden.

As UNEP's Key Polar Centre, it is involved with initiatives in the Polar Regions, and increasingly, it is broadening its focus on sustainable development of the oceans and coasts elsewhere in the world. The staff consists of a diverse team of international professionals. Through a dynamic portfolio of projects, they partner with various organizations to facilitate free access to and exchange of information in support of decision making and to promote a sustainable future.
