- The Institute of Applied Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IAP
RAS) was created in accordance with the Decree of the Council of
Ministers of July 28, 1976 on the basis of several divisions of the
Radiophysical Research Institute (RRI) of the Ministry of Higher
Education of Russian Federation. Academician A.V.Gaponov-Grekhov was appointed its director. In 2003 academician A.G.Litvak headed the IAP RAS and academician A.V.Gaponov-Grekhov became the scientific leader of the IAP RAS.
