organisation profile

DYNECO/PHYSED has four principal missions:
- to carry out the research and scientific, methodological and technical developments specific to its three basic fields: coastal hydrodynamics and modeling, monitoring and evaluation of the quality of the zone, geographical information;
- to put in synergy and to integrate the tools, methods and data of these disciplines in information systems useful for the diagnosis and the decision for integrated installation and durable management of the littoral;
- to test, validate and transfer them to outside and in particular to the coastal laboratories which are the local actors of IFREMER;
- to promote the implementation, the use and the communication of environmental and multi-media coastal information.
These missions, which privilege the complementarity of the disciplines and of their tools, have common objectives : coherent installation of coastal spaces, management of their uses, safeguarding of their resources and maintenance or restoration of the quality of the sites. The objectives related with these missions require the establishment of scientific and technical assistances. This explains the active participation of the service in many working groups and national or international programs. Service DYNECO/PHYSED is established on centers IFREMER of Brest and Nantes.
