The Laboratoire d’Océanographie Physique et Biogéochimique (LOPB) is a combined research unit of CNRS and Université de la Méditerranée (UMR 6535). LOPB is one of the research units of the Centre d’Océanologie de Marseille. LOPB is composed of two research teams focusing on the effect of climate change on the marine biosphere. Studies address the physical processes and biological responses in the coastal environment (Team1) and the biogeochemical cycles as related to the functional biodiversity of pelagic communities (Team 2).
LOPB is a member of the European Network of Excellence EUR-OCEANS.
LOPB is a member of Pôle MER PACA (Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur), internationally-oriented competitiveness cluster created on 12 July 2005.
