- The environmental chemistry and chemical oceanography group is a lecturing and research group based at the Department of Chemistry in the University of Aveiro. Its main functions are to lecture on analytical chemistry, environmental chemistry and chemical oceanography for M. Sc. and undergraduate courses, and to engage in a variety of research activities, particularly on the fate of heavy metals in coastal areas, the role of humic substances such as ligands for exchanging sea-land materials and the carbon cycle in coastal areas. In general data is freely available with the exception of some contract data, where permission may have to be sought from the sponsor.
