- The Department of Biology offers first degree (B.Sc. Hons.) and postgraduate (M.Sc., M.Phil. and Ph.D.) degree courses. The Biology Department carries out research in biological sciences. The fields of interest are wide ranging and include the following: fisheries biology and marine aquaculture marine pollution and environmental quality local flora, fauna and ecology population genetics biodiversity and bioconservation. Thus, much of the research work undergone at the department concerns the marine environmental resources and involves field work and diving. These activities are attracting an increasing number of foreign students from a number of countries.
