The state agency of "Latvian Environment, Geology, and Meteorology Agency " (LEGMA) is an institution subordinated to the LR Ministry of Environment, which started its work on the 1st of January, 2005. The agency was created by combining the Latvian Hydrometeorology Agency, the Latvian Environment Agency, and the Latvian Geology Service. Main objectives of the agency: * collect and process environmental information; * carry out environmental monitoring and inform the society on the environmental situation; * ensure the geologic supervision of earth entrails’ resources and rational use of the earth entrails; * realize the State policies in the spheres of geology, meteorology, climatology, hydrology, air quality, and cross-border air pollution influence.
