The LITTORAL unit of IFREMER's Oceanography and Ecosystem Dynamics department is dedicated to the observation, study and expertise on coastal ecosystems
through monitoring networks deployed throughout the territory, which it operates or supervises. It is made up of 9 Environment and Resources Laboratories.
The main missions of these laboratories are:
- coastal observation (monitoring networks and diagnostics of the quality of the marine environment)
- the study of coastal and shellfish ecosystems
- integrated regional research and studies (shoreline / watershed interaction), with a national and European vision
- monitoring the quality of aquaculture products in the natural environment
- the realization of expertises
- issuing notices to the decentralized services of the State
- the valorization and transfer of knowledge.
