In 1991, a group of scientists - with many years of experience in the space and defence sectors – decided to apply their specialized knowledge of lasers and electro-optics to practical commercial solutions. LDI was established in Tallinn, Estonia. · Company developments and products quickly received worldwide recognition and the scientists’ achievements have been acknowledged by prestigious international awards: International Award for Technology and Quality (Rome, Italy, 1995), Gold Medals of 48th and 51st World Exhibition of Inventions, Research and Industrial Innovations, (Brussels, Belgium) etc. · In 1998, LDI licensed Fluo-Imager product to Skalar b.v. (The Netherlands), Dutch analytical instrument manufacturer since 1965, joint venture Skalar-LDI was established. · In 2001 Laser Diagnostic Instruments International Inc. (LDI3) was incorporated in Canada to bring LDI’s leading-edge laser and fluorescence analysis technology and know-how to the North American marketplace. · In 2001 Genestho AS (Estonia) and Genestho Inc. (Canada) and Genestho-Laser (Russia) were established to commercialize medical developments of LDI. · In 2006 the company LDIAMON AS (Estonia) was incorporated in Estonia as a joint venture between LDI and MetPro AB (Medical Technology Projects, Sweden) with its international network in haemodialysis applications. LDI has a shareholding in Skalar-LDI, LDI3, Genestho and LDIAMON. Each company brings its own speciality to the LDI group portfolio.
