The LITTORAL unit of the Oceanography and Dynamics of Ecosystems Department of IFREMER is dedicated to the observation, study and expertise on coastal ecosystems thanks to monitoring networks deployed throughout the territory, which 'it operates or supervises. It is made up of 9 Environment and Resources Laboratories.
The main missions of these laboratories relate to:
- coastal observation (monitoring networks and diagnostics of the quality of the marine environment)
- the study of coastal and shellfish ecosystems
- integrated regional research and studies (coastal / watershed interaction), in a national and European vision
- monitoring the quality of aquaculture products in the natural environment
- carrying out expertise
- issuance of opinions for decentralized State services
- promotion and transfer of knowledge.
