Activities: The objectives of the Undersecretariat are:
- to take necessary measures for encouraging maritime trade, merchant fleet and shipping and developing and operating marine industry, marine and inland water transportation efficiently,
- to define and plan the requirements related to the maritime affairs,
- to take the measures ensuring the safety of life and welfare,
- to define and coordinate the main principles and policy regarding technical conditions and qualifications of merchant vessels and seafarers,
- to guide and co-ordinate related organizations in the direction of the maritime policy and strategies of the State,
- to make and have made the necessary investigations determining State's targets and policies related to the maritime affairs and apply them all,
- to take all necessary measures preventing pollution and mitigating of the marine environment, to ensure monitoring and controlling of the marine environment and to co-operate with the other related organizations which the services in this field,
- to work with the other competent international organizations in the field of legal, economic, political and technical aspects of the maritime affairs,
- to keep the record of seafarers and register the vessels,
- to take necessary steps and actions accordingly to develop and extend the love of sea in the community.
